Church of Sant’Apollonia

Sant’Apollonia

The Church of S.Apollonia is located in the historic center of Caiazzo in Via Salita Manselli; it is of ancient origin and was erected by the brotherhood of Santa Apollonia, in 1776 on the previous Church of S.Antonio.
In ancient times the church was dedicated to Saint Antoninus, as attested in the scrolls since 1121, while in 1539 it became a parish. Lost at the beginning of the 600, the care of the souls was granted in 1717 by the major sacristan of the Cathedral, to the Congregation of S.Apollonia from which then it took the name.
Later, in 1776, during the episcopate of Monsignor Piperni, there was canonically erected the Brotherhood with the title of S.Apollonia.
